Its months after many people made or started their new year resolution. Can I ask if you are still on the journey, or have you given up? Can I ask if you took on too much at once, or did you lose focus on your goal?
We all want more/better, more money, more time, better health, better lifestyle, better job. But all too much all at once is overwhelming. That is where most people fall, I didn’t say fail, I said fall. They change too many things all at once, or they have an all or nothing approach. STOP. Sit quietly and really look at one thing that you can change, that you want to change. And most importantly attach an emotion to it.
It might be that you would like your relationship with your spouse/partner to be better. You know that your spouse/partner likes a morning coffee, and you know exactly how they have it. Then make it – with NO expectations for anything, including a thank you. Make that coffee every morning, try it see how it unfolds. They might start with a thank you, they might question why you are suddenly doing this. Tell them you want the relationship to be better, you want to master the little things in life.
The change might be better health and to lose a little weight, or focus more, be more present with your children, read more, listen to intelligent podcasts. Start slowly gain momentum, do something that you know you can do consistently until a habit is formed. The more energy and time it takes for you to repeatedly start, stop and start again is exhausting. Change is hard, and its why most people find it comfortable to just stay where they are. Stay where you are, and you will never improve.
Once you start a good habit you will feel better, more positive and you will gain more momentum and consistency and develop the habit. Watch how it snowballs once you gain momentum. Watch how this change becomes a habit over time, and then watch yourself take on new challenges.
